Letter from Emily and Kimberly Hu

Dear Family and Friends,
We sadly announce the passing of our mother, Helen Hailun Hu, today, December 27, 2010. She was diagnosed with uterine cancer in the spring of 2008, and passed away this morning near her Westport, Connecticut home with family close by.
Helen lived a graceful life and will be remembered as a generous, kind, and creative woman. She was a loving and devoted wife and mother; a talented artist and a friend to many. She will be dearly missed by all of her family and friends. She spent her last few years actively painting and drawing, supporting our dad's Chinese opera activities and spending time with family and friends.
As per Helen's last wishes, she requested that her remains be sprinkled in Long Island Sound, where she spent many summer evenings with our father watching the sun set aboard our family boat, the Helen III.  In this way she also will be united with the ocean seas which connect her American home with the lands of China where from which she came.
We appreciate that you may wish to send flowers to show your support to our family in Helen's memory. However, as we will not be holding a funeral service as requested by Helen, you may wish to make a contribution towards The Gynecologic Cancer Foundation instead: http://www.thegcf.org
A private memorial service for the immediate family will be held at an appropriate point in the near future.
We are very thankful for your thoughts and kind support.
With love and fond memory of our dear mother,
Emily and Kimberly Hu
